STS Welcomes Hysitron

SEMTech Solutions is pleased to announce a new sales representation agreement with Hysitron for the Northeastern region of the U.S. Hysitron is a world leader in nanomechanical test instrumentation. SEMTech Solutions will be responsible for sales of Hysitron's complete line of products, including their new in-situ nanoindentation instruments for electron microscopes (TEM, SEM).

Hysitron PI 95 TEM PicoIndenterNanoindentation is used to measure mechanical properties of nanoscale materials, such as hardness and elastic modulus. Using the depth-sensing indentation technique, quantitative data regarding material deformation can be routinely obtained. However, the underlying physical mechanisims by which deformations occur are not always apparent. By coupling depth-sensing nanoindentation in-situ with an electron microscope (TEM, SEM), unusual features of a load-displacement curve, corresponding to a change in the microstructure, can be observed in real-time.
