STS Welcomes Hysitron

SEMTech Solutions is pleased to announce a new sales representation agreement with Hysitron for the Northeastern region of the U.S. Hysitron is a world leader in nanomechanical test instrumentation. SEMTech Solutions will be responsible for sales of Hysitron's complete line of products, including their new in-situ nanoindentation instruments for electron microscopes (TEM, SEM).

Nanoindentation is used to measure mechanical properties of nanoscale materials, such as hardness and elastic modulus. Using the depth-sensing indentation technique, quantitative data regarding material deformation can be routinely obtained. However, the underlying physical mechanisims by which deformations occur are not always apparent. By coupling depth-sensing nanoindentation in-situ with an electron microscope (TEM, SEM), unusual features of a load-displacement curve, corresponding to a change in the microstructure, can be observed in real-time.
